EXIT STRATEGY & CRITICAL RISK ASSUMPTIONSEXIT STRATEGY & CRITICAL RISK ASSUMPTIONS
In this last section of your business plan, provide information about your Exit Strategy, and discuss any potential trends, problems, or risks that you may encounter.
You should outline the interrelationship and timing of the major events planned for your venture. The timeline helps you to calculate your business needs and minimize the risk involved. It is also an indicator to investors that you have thoroughly researched potential problems and are aware of deadlines.
EXIT STRATEGY
How do you plan to get yourself (and your money) out of the business?
Do you intend to grow the business to the point of an initial public offering (IPO), or do you intend to sell the business?
How will the investors get their money back?
Your business plan must include implicit assumptions, such as how your business will operate, what will be the economic conditions, and how you will react in different situations. These risks and assumptions could be related to your industry, markets, company, or personnel.
CRITICAL RISK & ASSUMPTIONS
What will you do if your market develops either more slowly or more quickly than anticipated?
How will you react to competitor challenges such as under pricing or new products that make your products obsolete?
How will you react to favorable or unfavorable changes in the industry?
How will you react if there is a labor shortage or other labor-related issues?
How will you react if there is an erratic supply of products or raw materials?
Supplemental information and documents not crucial to the business plan, but of potential interest to the reader, must be included in the appendix.
Some documents that you can include in the appendix are:
Resumes of owners and principal managers
