How Do I DO IT?
You will write a term paper describing a developmental experience in a given developmental stage within each domain (i.e., physical, cognitive and socioemotional). That is, you will chose one developmental stage, and describe your experience in this stage through a theory or concept connected with that domain. For example, you may chose to describe your early childhood through the physical domain, using Gibson’s ecological view as the framework. Then, you may choose to describe your adolescence through the socioemotional domain applying Erikson’s identity versus role confusion stage, etc. Some suggestions of theories/concepts relevant to each domain are given in the table below. Pick one from the physical domain, one from the cognitive domain, and one from the socioemotional domain and apply what you have chosen to a developmental stage (prenatal development, early childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, etc.). You should choose a different developmental stage and theory for each domain. You may complete this assignment from the perspective of a health-care provider who is advising a pregnant patient on the domains and stages of development and how the theories apply, or you may choose to use your own personal experiences from your biography. Take care to be specific in your examples; that is, make strong connections between your development and the application of the theory/course concept. DO NOT SIMPLY COMPLETE AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY. DO NOT BE VAGUE OR GENERIC. You must demonstrate through this assignment your understanding and proficiency of the given concepts, so be thorough, be clear, and be convincing. Make strong connections to each theory with the domain and developmental stage described. Here are some ideas of theories that apply to the different domains, but you are free to chose any theories, as long as you make the connections between the theory, the domain, and the developmental experience.

Capstone #1 Feedback This reads more like a rough draft in the very early stages. You need to make connections with Piaget’s theory (i.e., how did your nephew’s development illustrate some of the concepts associated with Piaget’s theory we described in class, like schemes, etc.. and the various substages? Also, many technical/grammatical errors make the paper difficult to read and follow. (physical domain )
Capstone #2 Feedback Though you describe the basic tenets of Piaget’s theory and offer some nice connection with your experiences in adolescent, many grammatical and technical errors affect clarity and make the draft difficult to read and follow. To maximize your score on the final draft, visit the writing center to review your draft, and see me during student hours to discuss if you have questions.(Congintive domain)
Capstone # 3The format is improvig, but there are still many grammatical/technical errors which affect the paper’s clarity. Review the final draft with the writing center to help you catch these errors before submitting the final draft. Also, nice connection between Freud’s oral stage and attachment, but you need to make this connection a bit stringer as you apply it to your own experience.(Socioemotional domain)
