Services account for more than 70% of world GDP (WTO 2015). As a consequence companies have awakened to the realisation that services dominate global economies and growth. Yet in practice there appears to be a decline in service. Is this because companies wrongly believe they are providing service excellence? For this assignment you are asked to write a 2,000 word Literature Review that discusses the proposition above, based on the literature. Specifically, you will synthesise research from the scientific literature, and draw conclusions based on your research. This assignment provides an opportunity for you to explore service studies in greater depth than time allows
in our course.

Assessment 2 Group Business Report
In the hotel business, you are accommodating a variety of travellers with various demands, needs and expectations. The key for the hotel is to ensure repeat business, customer loyalty and profitable, long-term business survival. The question is how do you make the experience memorable for everyone? whilst at the same time remaining profitable.
Research and Report on five strategies hotels can adopt to enhance guest experiences and in turn increase revenue.
The group project gives you an opportunity to work with a group of your peers and investigate a topic that of significant importance to the hotel sector. The purpose of this assignment is threefold. First, as a group project it is designed to be a practicum for learning leadership skills including group decision making, conflict resolution, interpersonal communication, and critical analysis. Second, writing is an important skill in any profession and this is an opportunity for you to hone your writing skills. Finally, this assignment also provides you an opportunity to develop effective communication and presentation skills.

Assessment 3 Video Presentation
The ability to communicate effectively is a key leadership competency. The group presentation is designed to give students practice at both peer teaching and oral communication. The pre-recorded 15-minute video should present three of your strategies (from your group project in assessment 2) that you feel are most important. In your presentation you should clearly introduce your research, present empirical research that speaks to your question, and analyse and summarize your findings. Finally be sure to be clear and concise.
