H‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌ello again, for this last piece of work, I would like for you to write the Introduction and Conclusion chapters. I have attached the research information document which includes the abstract, research questions, gaps and perceived research contributions. For the introduction chapter, I would like for you to please develop an effective research aim and objectives based on what I’ve sent as well as a detailed interpretation of what this research contributes to the field, basically why it’s worth a PhD. The following is a guide in what the introduction chapter should include:
An effective PhD thesis introduction does three things:
1. Establish your research territory (by situating your research in a broader context) (in this case, the airline industry). One of the first things the introduction should do is to provide general statements that outline the importance of the topic and provide enough background information so that the reader can understand the context in which your research sits (although being careful not to enter into an in-depth review of the literature. More on this below). In doing so, you will need to reference existing studies.
2. Establish and justify your niche (by describing why your research is needed). The introduction should also discuss the gap that your research will fill. Then, you outline your research questions and the problems the study addresses.
3. Explain the significance of your research (by describing how you conducted the research)
The introduction needs to also discuss the value that this study brings to the broader field or discipline (i.e. your contribution). You do this by detailing the central argument, the research aims, the structure of the discussion (with reference to any theories or concepts you used) (Peak-end, TPB, CX, MoT, Touchpoint elements), the methods employed (SIT – process oriented interviewing technique), the study’s limitations (Time, Covid, etc.) and the layout of the thesis.
The structure is as follows:
1. Introduction to the introduction: a short version (of only a few paragraphs) of the thesis’ aims, research questions, contribution, objectives and findings.
2. State the overarching to‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌pic and aims of the thesis in more detail
3. Provide a brief review of the literature related to the topic (this will be very brief if you have a separate literature review chapter)
4. Define the terms and scope of the topic
5. Critically evaluate the current state of the literature on that topic and identify your gaps.
6. Outline why the research is important and the contribution that it makes
7. Outline your epistemological position (knowledge is founded on the abstract descriptions of meanings, shaped by human experiences) and ontological position (subjectivist’s view of reality)
8. Clearly outline the research questions and problem(s) you seek to address
9. Detail the most important concepts and variables
10. Briefly describe your methodology (don’t worry too much about that)
11. Discuss the main findings
12. Discuss the layout of the thesis (lit review, methodology, findings and discussion, conclusion, abstract / references)
Conclusion:
A good conclusion should restate the thesis statement and highlight the key points of your work, explaining to the reader why your work is important and how it contributes to the field.  Here is a format that you could follow while writing the conclusion of your thesis:
1. Restate your thesis statement. Rephrase it so that its slightly different from the thesis statement presented in the introduction and does not sound repetitive.
2. Reiterate the key points of your work. To do this, go back to your thesis and extract the topic sentences of each main paragraph/argument. Rephrase these sentences and use them in your conclusion (don’t really understand this point, but please feel free to use the points / arguments mentioned in the lit review you have sent me as well the results / discussion chapter).
3. Explain the relevance and significance of your work. These should include the larger implications of your work and showcase the impact it will have on society.
4. End with a take-home message, such as a call to action for managers and recommendations as well as future direction and what future research can do based on this research.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and looking forward to s‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌ee your work!
Best regards
