Throughout the semester, you have begun developing a definition of success, explored what it means to be a college student, and developed skills and behaviors that will set you on a path to graduation and beyond. Should you want to earn extra credit to balance out any moments you strayed from our course this semester, you may do the following:
1. Go to the circulation desk at the HCC library and ask for the book First in the Family, which is on reserve under my name.
2. Read five chapters in the book.
3. For each chapter, write a response of at least one paragraph. In your response, explain what you can learn from the student profiled. What behaviors, attitudes, and skills does the student exhibit that makes him or her successful? In what ways are you similar or has your experience been similar? How has it been different? What concepts and vocabulary have you learned in our class this semester that helps you understand the student profiled in the chapter?
4. Type up your five responses as a single document, and add an introductory paragraph. Be sure to proofread and edit carefully. I will pay attention to grammar, sentence structure, spelling, and the like.
5. Submit the extra credit assignment via Blackboard no later than 11:59 pm on our last day of class.
