Onboarding is the key to success for new employees in the organization. Companies that fail to adequately onboard their new hires see a higher turnover, which can cost the company thousands of wasted hours and dollars. In fact, SHRM reports that 69% of employees that rate their onboarding experience as satisfactory are likely to still be at that company after three years of employment. Nearly 25% of all new employees leave a job within the first year of employment. If these statistics aren’t enought, look at your own experiences. For this week’s discussion, I want you to review the “New Employee Onboarding” guide from SHRM and Pages 228-233 from your textbook in formulating your response. Focus on the first 3 months of employment and what touch points you will have with the new employee’s assimilation to the job and company.
