These are the instructions provided by my professor copied and pasted. I will send you the data set once you’ve accepted the project. Attached is an additional instruction page and an example project. A researcher wants to know whether eye color (brown/blue/green) is related to biological sex (male/female). For the study, variants of brown (amber/hazel) are considered brown while gray is grouped with blue. Other eye colors (ex: violet) were so rare as to be disregarded. In a random sample of 120 participants, the biological sex and eye color were recorded. The data collected by the researcher is provided below. Written Paper Rubric Format (10 points) Introduction: Research Design & Objective (15 points) Explain the goal of your study. That is, what question are you ultimately trying to answer. Is the data qualitative or quantitative? Explain. What level of measurement is the collected data (nominal, ordinal, ratio, or interval)? Explain. Think about what you used to create the categories in your frequency table. You didn’t collect the data. However, if you were to collect this data, how would you go about doing so? Explain this in detail – including the type of sampling technique and issues you expect to encounter. Make sure your response is realistic to a researcher. Second Paragraph: Summarizing the Data (20 points) Create an appropriate chart/graph for each of the variables. Only use the charts/graphs provided in Chapter 2 (Pie, Pareto, Histogram, or Polygon, etc.). Create a two-way/contingency table for the data. Third Paragraph: Statistical Inference – Confidence Interval (25 points) Construct and INTERPRET a 95% confidence interval for the true proportion of brown eyes in females. Then construct a confidence interval for the true proportion of brown eyes in males. Compare. Indicate which confidence interval is used (mean, variance, proportion, etc.). Report the critical value(s). Report the confidence interval(s). Interpret the confidence interval(s). What does this interval tell you about the goal of your study? Fourth Paragraph: Statistical Inference – Hypothesis Testing (30 points) Perform a hypothesis test to test the whether eye color is related to biological sex at the .05 level of significance. Explain your results. Indicate what type of hypothesis test is used (goodness of fit, one sample t-test for mean, etc.) and why it is used. Are all requirements/conditions satisfied? Explain why or why not. If the conditions are not satisfied, continue with the hypothesis test. Write the null and alternative hypotheses in words and symbols. Provide the critical value and test statistic. Determine whether you reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis, and write a conclusion. Interpret the hypothesis test relative to the goal of the study. Conclusion: Reflection (5 points) Summarize your findings from the confidence interval and hypothesis test. What did you learn from the analysis of the data? Were your results surprising?
