Lay audiences have no special or expert knowledge on the topic, they rely on the aspect of the articles, and they are the one who needs more description and definition of information plus they find attractive graphics and visuals very helpful (Reid, Kiefer & Kowalski, 2013). The managerial audience is the one who may or may not know the subject. They need more knowledge and information to make a decision about the issue, this audience needs facts, statistical data to make a decision (Reid, Kiefer & Kowalski, 2013). The expert audience, on the other hand, is the most demanding audience because they have the knowledge of the subject but they demand more information, graphics, and visuals (Reid, Kiefer & Kowalski, 2013). Most of them are experts, theorists, or practitioners (Reid, Kiefer & Kowalski, 2013). They are particular with the format, technical, style, vocabulary, citations, and everything that is presented should be accurate (Reid, Kiefer & Kowalski, 2013).On my capstone, I have these types of audiences. The lay audience consists of the participants behind the RESPOND program which are administrators, teachers, and school staff, the managerial audiences are parents and students involved, while the expert audience is the mental health practitioners and stakeholders. I consider those latter participants as lay audiences because they are the one who wants to access key ideas and expectations about the RESPOND project. How their impact can improve the lives of the students. These audiences may want to anticipate what the overall benefits of the project for them and for the ones they are helping. They also would want to know how to move to the next level to improve their knowledge about mental health. Expert audiences may share the same topic interest (Reid, Kiefer & Kowalski, 2013). They need my statistical data as supporting evidence for them to believe if the program is working or if it needs improvement, what could have been done better, or what needs to be avoided. Parents and students are my managerial audiences as they may know or not know if the RESPOND project exists on campus. They want more information about the program and how it can help the student to better their mental health. In writing my capstone project I agree that audience matters, and we have to be conscious in organizing our idea and how best to support the arguments. My paper should be informative that suit these three types of audiences. Sometimes the choice of words and the tone matters (The University of North Carolina, 2022). Emphasizing the purpose of the project can draw the attention of our target audiences and remember it does not matter what categories our audience is, we must take into consideration that they are uninformed, and addressing them effectively is a must.ReferencesReid, S., Kiefer, K. and Dawn Kowalski, D.
