Explain and evaluate the view known as transcendental idealism

IN YOUR OWN WORDS THAT REFLECT AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE COURSE MATERIAL, PROVIDE AN ESSAY RESPONSE TO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS BELOW (DO EITHER A, B OR C). YOUR ESSAY SHOULD BE DOUBLE-SPACED AND APPROXIMATELY 7 PAGES. REMEMBER: YOU ARE WRITING A COLLEGE ESSAY, SO USE COMPLETE SENTENCES, PROPER GRAMMAR, AND OF COURSE, BE CLEAR, CONCISE, AND COHERENT.
A. Explain and evaluate the scientific, Darwinian view of human nature as it compares and contrasts with the traditional Western rationalistic and religious views. Identify the comparative strengths and weaknesses, and then discuss where you stand on this issue. In short, what is your view of human nature? Be sure to not only identify the relevant benefits of your view but also defend your position against possible objections. In doing so, be sure to discuss not only Hobbes’ materialism, Cartesian mind/body dualism, the feminist challenge but also the fundamental questions concerning existential freedom of will. Be specific and provide examples. (Relevant text material–Chapter 2, specifically sections 2.2, and 2.6, Module 4. Also, Sections 2.1, 2.3-5, 3.6, 3.9, and 5.5)
B. Explain and evaluate the view known as transcendental idealism. Compare and contrast it with empiricism and rationalism. In doing so, be sure to discuss Kant’s distinction between noumena and phenomena and how our knowledge of the one differ from that of the other. Furthermore, compare and contrast transcendental idealism to the views of pragmatism and antirealism (as Discussed in chapter 3). Is Kant a pragmatist or an antirealist? Why or why not? Lastly, in discussing this view, be sure to offer your stance on transcendental idealism—does it comport with your epistemology? Why or why not? Provide examples and be specific. (Relevant text material Chapter 5, specifically Section 5.4 and Module 6. Also Sections 5.1-5.3, 3.3, 3.5, 3.7 and 7.4.)
C. Explain and evaluate the positions of determinism, libertarianism and compatibilism. What does each of these positions claim about reality and human freedom? What philosophers hold these views and what advantages or problems do they encounter? Be sure to discuss the impact (or conflicts) that these views have on the topics of science (and causal laws) and morality (responsibility and culpability). Next, discuss and argue for your stance on this problem. Are you a determinist, a libertarian, or compatibilist and why? Also, in doing so be sure to address relevant objections. Provide examples and be specific. (Relevant text material– Chapter 3, specifically sections 3.7 and 3.9, Module 5. Also, Sections 1.1, 1.2, 1.4, 2.2, 5.5, 5.6 and 7.7)
