Essays should be written in APA format with appropriate references and should be long enough to completely address the topic but must be a minimum of 500 words in length (note – a 500 word essay may or may not give you the full points for the assignment – this is a minimum to receive any credit – grade will be based on the organization, accuracy, and completeness of the essay). Essay will be evaluated on content – not just the length of the essay. Essay should have a title page but an abstract is not needed. I expect the essays to include information from multiple sources other than your textbook and ALL information should be referenced with APA format in-text citations and a reference list. Failure to follow APA format and these requirements will void any extra credit toward Exam #3.
Essay #1 – Description and Comparison of Mitosis and Meiosis
Describe the process of cell division (mitosis) and gamete formation (meiosis). Be sure to describe the overall role of both process as well as a detail description of all phases of both processes. Make sure that you make a direct comparison between the two processes focusing on their specific similarities and differences. Figures or diagrams can be used but CANNOT replace the written description or narrative.

Explain what occurs during the Krebs cycle (also called citric acid cycle or tricarboxylic acid cycle) and electron transport. Figures or diagrams can be used but CANNOT replace the written description or narrative. In your response include a description of the following:
The location of the Krebs cycle and electron transport chain in mitochondria – be specific.
The cyclic nature of the reactions in the Krebs cycle.
The production of ATP and reduced coenzymes during the cycle.
The chemiosmotic production of ATP during electron transport.
