I’m stuck on a Business question and need an explanation.
“The Bible teaches that by nature humans are notoriously and quite destructively self-centered individuals who attempt to use the social community and the Earth’s natural resources for selfish or unfair personal gain”(Cafferky). This being said secular and Christian business settings can benefit greatly from incorporating biblical principles into their company, particularly as a guiding post to the type of culture one wants to have in their business, a culture that is most easily derived from the type of employees that work there, and the way they have been trained and developed within the company.
1. “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men” (The Holy Bible. NKJV. Col. 3:23). Within businesses it is wise to promote self-fulfillment and purpose in the workplace. Many work environments become dull and mundane very quickly, because employees feel a lack of purpose in what they do and why they are doing it.
2. “The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty” (Prov. 21:5). In the stage of training and development, there is no better time to communicate the importance of being a diligent worker over a hasty one. Often times, especially in today’s culture, one is more amp to skip on to the next step rather than being well educated in what they are currently being taught.
3. And. Last. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Rom. 12:2). Even if the company or business is not openly Christian, there should be a structured and sound company mission and workplace statement that speaks to the type of culture and atmosphere that is promoted and expected there, from the actions of everyone, when one is in the present company of their superiors or off on their own.
