Discuss the purpose of the model.

Structural Geology
Develop a model to illustrate how Earth’s internal and surface processes operate at different spatial (size) and temporal (time) scales to form continental and ocean floor features.
Choose one location of a land feature and another location of an ocean-floor feature.
Use the Internet, text, and lesson content to research geologic events resulting from tectonic plate movement.
As you explore websites gather information that describes how the land feature was created and how the ocean-floor feature was created.
You can choose to present the information as a slide show, brochure, web site, hand drawing, animation, computer illustration or any other creative format of your choice. Consult your instructor for other ideas.
Your model should include the following:
Introduction: Identify a land feature and an ocean-floor feature; include their location.
Discuss the purpose of the model.
Model: Your model should visualize the details of your text. For each land formation feature and ocean-floor feature of your model, describe in detail the following:
The internal processes leading to the formation of the geologic feature.
The external processes that occur and their effect on Earth’s surface.
A geographic scale to show the relative size and extent of the land and ocean-floor features.
Conclusion: Your conclusion will compare and contrast the formation of land and ocean-floor features. Describe how the constructive forces and destructive forces differ in time when creating these features.
Resources: List each source consulted, including those of all images and diagrams. Remember to use only reliable resources.
Use the notes you took from the lesson to make your ideas clear and concise.
