I don’t understand this Psychology question and need help to study.

Think of a recent time when you used informal negative sanctions with another adult. (See 7.1 in the textbook.) To what act of deviance were you responding? Provide an outside reference explaining that the behavior in question is generally considered deviant. How did your actions affect the deviant person or persons? How did your reaction help maintain social control?
