Subjects were assigned randomly to two groups of treatment Traditional Acupuncture and TPDN.Pain levels were measured using the 10 cm Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Jaw movement was measured using a range of motion scale in millimeters.Of the 28 subject assigned, 23 completed the study. each subject was measured on five variables (see below for definitions) all on continuous scales and at baseline (week 1) and 5 more weeks (so, six time points). in each time point, and each individual, and for each variable, two measurements (before and after) were collected..Pain score on VAS scaleLateral deviation of the jaw to the left (JSL) Lateral deviation of the jaw to the right (JSR)Mouth opening (MO) mouth opening with tongue to the roof of the mouth (MTR) The objectives of the study was to see if there were any differences in reducing pain and increasing movements between the two treatments
