In this module, you learned about the basics of libraries and library catalogs to locate resources. You will use this knowledge to search, locate, evaluate, and use resources about your chosen profession. You will demonstrate your understanding of these concepts by participating in a class discussion.
You will post your work as a Word document in the Module 7 discussion forum. You will review others’ feedback and consider how to make improvements for your final course projects. Be sure to be constructive and considerate in your responses to others, using professional language and examples supporting your claims. Consider the discussion board grading rubric when developing your responses.
Prepare by: Reviewing the Module 7 content. You will need to use Magale Library’s catalog or another library’s catalog to locate at least one book about your chosen profession that has been published in the past 10 years, preferably with the past 5 years. The book may be a textbook or a specific interest book, but it will need to describe aspects of your profession. You are allowed to use an ebook from one of Magale Library’s ebook collections, such as Credo Reference, EBSCO eBooks, or ProQuest Central Ebook Collection located on the library’s webpage under the right menu’s Popular Ebook Collections. Use the book resource to support your thoughts in each of the following paragraphs making sure to correctly cite each resource.
Using the MEAL Plan system, you will write three paragraphs.
Paragraph 1: Describe the importance of libraries and their related information literacy instruction programs on professionals. Cite and reference at least one of the required content video or readings from Module 7.
Paragraph 2: Describe your chosen profession’s current state including: how have any new laws, society views/cultural changes, and/or technology influenced the field? Cite and reference the book you found supporting your claims.
Paragraph 3: Describe your profession’s past state (100 or more years ago). Address how have any past laws, society views/cultural changes, and/or technology influenced the field? Cite and reference the book you found supporting your claims.
