Dear Event Designer,
You have successfully completed the workshops where we learned and implemented the Event Canvas Methodology. As we learned this new method of event design, we want you to have a tangible outcome, that is, a report narrating this method. This way, you can remember the critical components of the Event Canvas Methodology. Plus, when you design an event via Event Canvas Methodology, you are highly recommended to create such a report to present a brief summary of your critical findings to the Event Owner The report you will be creating is called Event Narrative. This report can be considered as a brief story of the Event Canvas Methodology we implemented to design our event. This event, in our case, was a Research Colloquium.
The followings are the components and their corresponding descriptions forming this report:
Title Page (Your full name and event name are sufficient).
Organizational Information 5 points (The organization that you are designing this event for is the College of Business (COB). All you need to do here is to briefly introduce our college. Mission, vision and core values are very helpful here. You can copy and paste this information directly from the UWF College of Business Website).
Event Context 5 points (As the event owner, me Dr. Ata, presented you the information to introduce the Research Colloquium during our first workshop. In this section, briefly introduce the Research Colloquium event with your own words. Then, talk about Dr. Ata’s vision of success. You will find the related information in the answer that I gave to the following question during our first workshop: What does success look like?
Who is organizing the change? 5 points (This is you and your colleagues/classmates in our class. Briefly introduce who you are
What is the challenge? 5 points (You will find the related information in the answers that I gave to the following questions during our first workshop: What are the goals of the event? What constraints are there? All you need to do is to briefly summarize my answers. Yes, you can use bullet points as well.)
Who are the main stakeholders? 5 points (Just let us know those two most important stakeholders we selected)
The Event Delta 5 points (Briefly explain the identified entering and exiting behaviors for our two most important stakeholders. You will find these particular behaviors on the Event Delta Canvas).
Event Narrative 5 points (As you know, we empathized with each stakeholder that led us to generate an Event Canvas for each of them. Provide a brief summary of our findings on these Event Canvases for each stakeholder. Make sure to briefly address all the following components as you do so. Remember that our video star friends/colleagues have already provided these summaries during our workshops
Entering behavior
Jobs to be done
Exiting behavior
Pains and gains
Expectations and Satisfaction
Commitment and return
Prototyping and Final Selection 5 points (The example Event Narrative document below does not have this section. All you need to do is to briefly explain us the final prototype we selected).
What’s Next? 5 points (See the example Event Narrative document. Let us know what we should be doing next as a Near Future Leader
Reference list 5 points (Indicate the resources that helped you to develop this report please).
Since each workshop was offered two times, we had two different Mural studios being used for these workshops. Below you will find links to access these Mural studios. Taking a look at these Mural studios can remind you critical information. Please do not make any edits/changes on these Murals.

Last but not the least, you can find video recording of each workshop within the alternative activities posted on our Canvas site.
In order to further assist you in the preparation of the Event Narrative report, below is an example Event Narrative report prepared by Ms. Patti Spaniola. Please make sure to take a look at it. You may notice that this example report has some sections (e.g., The Braiding Point) that are not required for you to include in your own report.
Check the Event Narrative Example uploaded.
