For this assignment, you selected 1 academic, peer reviewed journal article. You will now write a press release on that article. Using your previously chosen public health topic, you will write a press release from the perspective of a public health professional. You will summarize your article’s findings so that non-health professionals can understand the health implications of this research. Write about these findings that, as a public health professional, you would want to communicate to the public. As you know from the press release module, news reporters/news editors are the target audience for press releases. They read many press releases that are written by public health professionals. News reporters/news editors decide whether or not to write and publish a news article on the topic covered in the press release. The reporter’s article is what is eventually read by the general public. In this way, press releases educate the news reporters/news editors so that they can then educate the general public. This is NOT a draft version of your Press Release. You will be graded on the quality of your content. Your press release must meet all of the listed requirements and be of high quality. Technical Requirements:Length: 250 – 300 words
12-point & Times New Roman font
Correct spelling, grammar, and sentence structure
SINGLE-spaced, 1-inch margins, do not include your name on the paper (for privacy reasons)
Include a space between each paragraph
Press Release must include 3 paragraphs

Tone should be direct and professional, but should not incite fear or panic.
Sentences should be short and to the point.
Write using the 3rd person perspective. Do not use 1st or 2nd person perspective pronouns such as I, you, us, or we.
All acronyms and abbreviations should be defined.
Spell out numbers and percentages that are less than ten. Numbers and percentages that are above ten should be written as numerals.Ex: There are nine cases. This could grow to 13 cases.

Summarize the basics of the article’s findings

Keep in mind that you are not speaking directly to the public or directing individuals to engage/not engage in a specific behavior. Your target audience for a press release is a journalist or editor, not the general public.
Information – Finish with a website (include official name and link) where the reader can get more information on your topic as it pertains to your specific population. This should be information on your specific topic, not a link to the journal article.

Type ### at the very bottom of your press release. It should be centered in the middle of the page.
