Context:
Toward the end of “Illusion,” Sissela Bok notes that the philosopher Immanuel Kant stressed “truthfulness” rather than “some unachievable full truth.” Bok continues: “The fact that we can strive for the former, no matter how far out of reach the latter may be, highlights the human potential for choice in communication with others as well as inwardly.” (par 21) Think about the role that “striving for truthfulness” plays in Ahmed’s exploration of queer happiness and the need to communicate with parents and others about queerness. Does “illusion” also play a role? Does suffering? Taking Ahmed and Bok’s essays together, given this “human potential for choice,” write an essay that answers the following question:
How can truth, illusion and happiness co-exist?
For most of us, we are not just the Brahmin, nor just the ignorant woman. Somehow all those elements above can come together to form a balance. Your job in this essay is to give your theory of how this can be.
Essay Requirements:
For this essay you should consider the various texts you’ve read and videos you’ve seen about happiness, particularly Bok and Ahmed.
You should cite at least three different sources, and you can use up to one additional outside source if you like, but not more. I actually already have two sources I’m adding in later. I just need one more on illusions, truth, and happiness
A Works Cited page is required.
While the essay should provide quotations from your sources as evidence, your analysis of these quotations will be key. It is your theory you’re bringing forward.
The essay should have a clear introductory paragraph introducing the reader to the subject (imagine that the reader has not read the material you’re quoting) and providing your thesis that answers the above prompt.
The body paragraphs should provide support to the thesis, and form an idea around a topic sentence that relates to the thesis, thus avoiding repetition. The conclusion should complete the essay, bringing the reader back to the thesis without re-stating it.
The essay should be a minimum of 1500 words long, or at least four full pages (spilling into a fifth), not including the Works Cited page.
I wrote some out if you can please fix it and add to it thank you. I’m unable to add the book I’m referencing to.
