TASKS
 
 

Build a website based on your research essay (Assignment 1) using HTML5 technology (with strict XML rule).

 
*Note: Students who did not submit assignment 1 must contact your lecturer as soon as possible.
 
REQUIREMENTS
 

Your website must have at least three webpages — home, topic, and reference list pages.

 

Webpages must be hand coded using HTML5 (with strict XML rule) and CSS.

 

HTML5 markup should be semantically correct.

 

They should also validate according to the W3C Validator.

 

Webpages should reflect the R.A.P. design principles.

 

Appropriate meta data should be included on all webpages, e.g. author’s information, a brief description and a set of keywords related to your content.

 

Appropriate file structure should be used for your website.

 

All webpages must hyperlink to each other.

 

Topic page should contain no more than 600 words.

 

Reference list must not contain sources that have not been cited in the text.

 

CDU Harvard referencing style should be applied.

 
PART 1 – WEBPAGES
 
Home Page
 

This home page should be named “html”.

 

At the minimum, your home page should include the website name and a very short introduction (75-125 words).

 
Topic Page
 

This webpage should be named “html”.

 

Trim the content of your research essay (from Assignment 1) to no more than 600 words. Ensure that your content is rewritten to be appropriate for a web medium.

 

Include at least one multimedia element (e.g. image, embedded video or audio) that is relevant to your content.

 

Be sure to include appropriate referencing, and it should also be clear of any copyright issue.

 
 
Reference List
 

The reference list should be in a separate webpage named “html”.

 

References should be listed in alphabetical order, according to author’s last name.

 

Reference items which include a link to a source on the web should be marked up as such.

 
 
All Webpages
 

Citations (i.e. inline references) should link directly to the specific reference in the reference list.

 

There should be a consistent navigation system used in the website.

 

Hypertext linking within a webpage is encouraged.

 
 
PART 2 – PRESENTATION
 
 

Use ONLY external Cascading Style Sheet for presentation.

 

Your CSS file should include a header comment that contains your name, version information, and references to any styles you have used from elsewhere.

 

All webpages should demonstrate consistency in presentation.

 
 
 
SUBMISSION GUIDELINE
 
On Learnline
 

Archive all your webpages, and any additional files, in a ZIP file named zip. Your ZIP file should include (at the minimum):

Submit the ZIP file to Learnline. You can find the submission portal at Assessment > Submit Here > Assignment 2

 

Click on “Browse My Computer” and attach your ZIP file.

 

You are allowed FIVE attempts on the submission to Learnline, however, if you re-submit after the due date it will be considered as a late submission.

 
 
On Spinetail Web Server
 

Your website, including images and stylesheet, should be uploaded to the Spinetail web server.

 

Ensure your website works.

 

Do NOT modify any files after the due date (assuming it is not a late submission).

 

Ensure appropriate file structure is used.

 

The zipped file submitted to Learnline and the website on Spinetail must be EXACTLY the same.

 

The time of submission will be based on when you submit the ZIP archive on Learnline.
