1. Open a sound file from Raven Examples
2. Familiarize yourself with the sound: experiment with different sonogram colors; pay
the sound file with different speeds; zoom in and zoom out, etc.
3. Select three short sounds on the sound file; you can use the selection tool (see
video tutorial 02 on how to make selections)
4. For each selection describe the sound in terms of frequency, amplitude, and shape.
5. Compare the sounds and polish your description.
6. Be prepared to present in class

3. How the soundscape affects you?
Part III – Soundscape Analysis
1. Record a short soundscape (maximum 1 min) using your phone or any recording
device.
2. You can recorded the soundscape in your room, house, outside, or any other
place you like.
3. Open the recorded sound in Raven (or Sonic Visualizer) 4. Analyze the soundscape by describing three kinds of sounds:
1) Background sounds (keynotes),
2) Foreground sounds (signals) and eventually
3) Community sounds (soundmarkrs)
