The intention of this assignment is to incorporate behavior changes into your LIFESTYLE. That is, to live the healthier lifestyle that the author of your text is referring to in chapter one. We are attempting to change behavior rather than just learning or stating theoretical strategies. The assignment requires you to look at the semester or your life to see where you can make a significant change. In other words, choose a behavior that you have adopted and describe your efforts and the benefits of that change. If the behavior change was effective then you will have less disruptive stress (distress), energy drain and/or ill health. You may not have changed any behavior to date. This is a chance to plan a behavior change then. WRITING THIS VIA MOODLE EMAIL—I SUGGEST THAT YOU: State the change. Describe why you decided to change a particular behavior. How did you implement the change. Are you more or less healthy as a result of the change?
Some examples would be: learning how to meditate, taking a yoga course, quitting smoking, developing an exercise program or improving current one and learning how to eat properly and incorporate sound nutritional habits into your every day. Specifically, consuming more water, fruits and vegetables into your diet—if that is needed. Improving communication in a relationship by practicing active listening. Taking time for your self. Building play or relaxation time into your life: daily, weekly or monthly. Learning how to reframe your thinking to gain another perspective. A very specific example is a change in your dialogue about other drivers as you drive. Allowing for extra time to get somewhere, anticipating delays, time Management: for example, setting priorities truly based on your own values not the expectations of others. We cannot stop the clock but we can choose what we will do with the time that we have at any given moment.
Hopefully, this gives some clarity as to the intention, content and reporting of this “behavior change.” This needs to be well thought out and individualized.
