Sam is a 17 year old male who has been diagnosed with depression and anxiety. He lives at home with his mother and sisters. Sam’s mother works full time. Sam’s parents separated when he was 10 years old. Sam’s Dad has since re-married and moved interstate. Sam hasn’t seen his Dad for 4 years though Skypes him each fortnight. Sam finished year 10 and went to TAFE to do a trade apprenticeship. Sam has missed several classes and found it difficult to complete his written assessments. He has no friends and spends most of each day playing games on the internet. Sam’s mother takes him to your service with the youngest sister aged 9 years.  Sam’s mother states that “Sam has a problem” and it is affecting his youngest sister because she has started to say that she feels sad all the time.

Describe your responsibilities of duty of care and dignity of risk in this scenario.
