Task: 1
Identify the different elements of the substructure using Australian Standard Methods of Measurement (6th Edition) (ASMM 6)

You are required to identify the different elements of substructure based on the ASMM6 using the classification table

All the identified elements should reflect in the TO list and then should be measured.

Note: Please note that the scope for this assignment excludes the ground floor slab and the reinforcement in the strip foundation.
Task B: Take off quantities for the substructure using the Drawings

As the first step of taking off you are required to calculate appropriate girths for taking off.

Subsequently, you have to take off quantities for each of the items identified in Task A.

While taking off you have to use ASMM6 concurrently to make sure that you are using the measurement rules appropriately.

Some of the measurement rules that you must adhere are as follows,

Use correct unit of measurements based on ASMM6 for each of the items.

Identification of depth categories for trench excavation, girth categories of trees etc.

Finally, you have to make sure that the taken-off quantities are accurate and sufficient to complete the work.

Task C: Write comprehensive descriptions for each of the items

While taking off you are required to write comprehensive descriptions for each of the taking of items.

These descriptions should include the kind and quality of materials together with the quotes given in ASMM6.

Task D: Use the QS paper appropriately

You have to make sure that all the taken off quantities and descriptions are entered into the QS paper appropriately.

The QS paper should be clean and tidy for checking with sufficient space in between two different items.

As a minimum you have to make sure that the following are done.

Use of correct column for dimensions and descriptions

Enter the quantities in m for taken off items in the dimension column

Finally, you are required to square the quantities for each of the items.

Task E: Raise queries if any information is missing on the Drawings or on the Specifications
