When my family goes to church on Sundays, after the service we have lunch at my grandmothers house. We always have chicken, sweet tea, and some vegetable. My Sunday is always spent with family. The South is mainly seen as the specific region that is categorized as a simpler, laidback, family-oriented, church going, football loving, fried food making region. Craig Morgans song, Thats What I Love About Sundays describes Southern lifestyle in many ways. It mainly shows how the Souths lifestyle is based on a simpler way of life, football, and going to church on Sundays.

The Southern way of living is simple and laidback. Craig Morgans song shows the Souths laidback lifestyle by describing what most Southerners do after church on Sundays. The song explains that after church on Sundays people go home and put on their blue jeans to get more comfortable, eat fried chicken and baked beans on their front porch with family, and dont do much of anything for the remainder of the day.

Another example that shows the Souths simple and leisure lifestyle is shown in John Reeds book, My Tears Spoiled My Aim. Reed brings up the Souths reputation for being lazy: Laziness, sometimes under other names, has been part of the stereotype of Southerners for as long as there have been Southerners. Indeed, it has been part of Southerners view of themselves. The image of Southerners as people who take life easy is so widespread that it can be used. (Reed 75). This image shows not only do
Southerners think they have a simpler more laidback lifestyle but also that other regions think the same.

The South lives on their college football. Football in the South is always crazy. Saturday in the South is college football day were people go, tailgate, and socialize the whole day before the teams play. People in the South get dressed up to go to the games because it is a huge social event. In the mornings before the game people go early so they can eat, drink, and play games.
When it comes to college football games everyone is like one big family in the South. When it comes to game time, everyone gets really competitive and loud. They love to cheer for their team. In Craig Morgans song, he shows the Souths love for football in his lyrics. He says, after church they pick a backyard football team. His words show that football is not only something watched on TV, or something only craved on Saturday college game days. Football is craved every day in Southern lifestyle.
Church is also very big in the South. Many southerners are Baptist. Everyone attends church on Sunday. Craig Morgans song shows how important church is to Southerners and how serious we take church. For example, the first verse of the song shows how people get dressed up to go to church instead of wearing their everyday clothes. It also shows how everyone sings along with the choir.
The second verse explains how the congregation, after the church service is over, all goes and shakes the preachers hand. Other regions stereotype the people in the South to be all Baptist. They believe that if youre a Southerner, then you are a Baptist. In the book, My Tears Spoiled My Aim, there is a map that looks at the geographical distribution of Baptist members in the South. The map shows a good many Baptists in New York, to be sure, but New York has lots of everything. In this respect, the mountain South, too, is virtually indistinguishable from the rest of the region. (Reed 15) The South runs on its faith and always will.
Both Craig Morgans song and John Reeds book shows how different the South is from other regions. They show how the South is its very own distinguished region, by illustrating their more laid back way of life and simpler way of living.
