There seems to be a great variation among cultural groups regarding emotional expression. Ethnographic studies indicate that some cultures are more expressive (e.g., hugging, kissing, and laughing boisterously) and others are more reserved (e.g., tilting their heads with a slight smile). This assignment requires you to read a research study that was conducted to determine whether these findings regarding cultural differences in emotional expression hold up under laboratory conditions.

Implementation Plan for Improving Employee Satisfaction
This Assignment will be part of the Final Project’s “Recommendation Report of Workplace Motivation Best Practices for Your Organization” that you will turn in at the end of Unit 9. In light of the fact that this Assignment will be part of your Final Project and should represent the very best of your writing, the project has been designed to be completed in portions to permit feedback and revision.
The Assignment for this unit is for you to develop and create a plan for improving employee satisfaction based upon employee satisfaction data; the Unit 7 Assignment will be to develop and create a plan for improving work life quality in a cost effective way; and the Final Project in Unit 9 will incorporate revisions of both of these earlier Assignments as well as an abstract.
As noted, this Assignment represents portions of your Final Project. It will be written as a standard paper, with title and references page. When it is revised for inclusion in your Final Project, some changes will need to be made, but if you have done well here, those changes will be obvious and minor.
The Introduction section of an Implementation Plan includes: 1). an explanation of the topic, 2). a literature review of previously published research on the topic of improving employee satisfaction using employee satisfaction data, and 3). a description of the proposed implementation plan.
Open the Introduction section with an introductory paragraph complete with a thesis statement, just like any paper. From there, move into a discussion of the plan for improving employee satisfaction using employee satisfaction data: describe the plan and the issues around it; define terms that might not be known by the reader. Make sure that your readers understand the approach contained within your plan.
Once the reader understands the planned approach, move smoothly into a literature review discussing recent research on the topic (using the 3–5 articles you found while doing the Unit 2 Discussions and Assignment). Describe the approach and method in each research paper, and critique the methods used and the conclusions that were drawn. Was the research done well? Are the conclusions that were drawn sound? Did they miss anything? What application does the research have to your planned approach for improving employee satisfaction based upon employee satisfaction data?
After the literature review, transition into a discussion of your proposed approach for improving employee satisfaction. Explain how you will do this using the employee satisfaction data reviewed. Describe the approach and practices used for the implementation of your plan.

The Method section of an Implementation Plan is like the instructions portion of a recipe. It outlines in very specific terms everything that is necessary to cook the dish (to perform the work in the plan). This includes describing the ingredients in very specific detail (describing the participants and how they are involved, describing any apparatus or other materials necessary for the implementation) and then giving very detailed instructions on how to make the dish (the procedure…how one will perform the plan). As with any other recipe, if anything is vague or left out of the description, the result will not be what was intended.
The Method section for the Implementation in this course assignment will have five subsections, arranged in this order: Participants, Apparatus/Materials, Measures, Procedure, and Ethical Considerations. Apart from these subsections, there should be no other material in the Method section.
Under “Participants,” the target participants should be clearly described along with the method of selection and the rationale for why that method will be used. Also include how the actual invitation and/or how the recruitment will be done.
“Apparatus/Materials” will describe any equipment or other materials that will be needed. If you intend to use a questionnaire or inventory as part of your employee data collection, it should be clearly identified here.
The “Measures” subsection describes the variables being considered in the study. Describe the independent and dependent variables (if applicable), how they will be analyzed, and how you will assess the reliability and validity of the measures. Be sure to describe how your measures will be used in your plan for improving employee satisfaction based upon employee satisfaction data.
The “Procedure” subsection must be completed in enough detail to ensure that someone else reading it could replicate your project exactly as proposed. Referring back to the recipe metaphor: If the recipe does not clearly and exactly describe every step, each person using the recipe is likely to wind up with a very different food dish at the end. The procedure section should also clearly indicate (if applicable) what type of experimental design is being used (e.g., quantitative, quasi-experiment design).
The final subsection, “Ethical Considerations” will discuss appropriate ethical issues that might arise from implementing the project: informed consent, privacy issues, confidentiality, etc. Do not simply give a “laundry list” of the APA standards; discuss them in terms of your Implementation Plan and how you will ensure that you are in accordance with the guidelines.

Essay #4: Drama
Write a short essay (1000 words) that defends a thesis you developed through a close critical reading/analysis of a literary work listed in chapter 29 and supported by at least three secondary sources. This essay still relies on textual support from the primary text, but includes at least three secondary sources that support/sustain the student’s argument. Do not confuse “critical analysis” with “plot summary”; the goal is to develop, sustain, and advance a thesis based on a critique of the primary text but also supported by at least three secondary sources.
What you’ll be graded upon:
15% Introduction: You establish a context for the significance of your thesis in regards to the literary work as a whole. How does your argument contribute to understanding the author’s major literary/thematic concerns? What can other readers learn from your analysis? How does your analysis/critique fit in with other critical responses of the author/literary work?
15% Thesis: You state your main point (or argument) in 1-2 sentences. The thesis is the culmination of your introduction.
30% Organization. Your essay should follow that of typical literary critiques:
Since your focus must be on analyzing some literary motif, theme, or a combination of literary elements (such as symbolism, character, setting, etc.), your essay must contain well-structured supporting paragraphs that contain a topic sentence, quotes from the primary text, at least one quote from a secondary source, an explanation/discussion of the significance of the quotes you use in relation to your thesis, and a concluding sentence or two that situates the entire paragraph in relation to the thesis. Your thesis will focus on some kind of critical analysis of the primary text, so your supporting paragraphs should contain quotes from the text that illustrate your thesis/argument; in addition, you should include at least one quote from secondary source to support your argument. Your supporting paragraphs should be organized around each of the quotes you use, explaining the significance of the quotes and why (or how) they illustrate your main point, but you also need to make sure that your paragraphs contain strong transitions and at least six (or more) sentences.
10% Conclusion: Regardless of the argument you make, you want a conclusion that avoids summarizing what you’ve just said, and please avoid writing, “In conclusion.…” Your aim in a conclusion is to place the discussion in a larger context. For example, how might your critical analysis of a literary character relate to the other characters in a work? How might your thesis be applied to other aspects of the text, say for example, setting or symbolism?
15% Grammar and mechanics: Your paper avoids basic grammar mistakes, such as dropped apostrophes in possessives, subject/verb disagreement, arbitrary tense switches, etc. The paper demonstrates a commitment to proofreading by avoiding easy-to-catch typos and word mistakes (effect for affect, for example). The paper adheres to MLA formatting style for in-text and bibliographic citations.
15% Presentation: Your paper meets the minimum length criteria of 1000 words, is typed with a title and your name on it. You follow your individual professor’s instructions for formatting (margins, placement of the name, etc).
