A&P II Disease Project
Assignment: Each
student is to create a disease presentation PowerPoint over two diseases as
well as create a flow chart of how each disease affects the body. Diseases must
affect a system that is covered in the material this semester (in other words
you can’t do something from A&P I). You can choose any diseases you want,
and do not have to clear them with me first. Diseases can be ones covered in the
class or ones not listed.
Guidelines for disease presentation PowerPoint:
Must
be saved as a PowerPoint document and saved as last name and diseases presentation (ex. Spear Huntingon’s, Multiple
Sclerosis presentation)
Should
be visually appealing (use color, nice backgrounds, pictures (gross is
good))
Information
covered for each disease must include:
o Name
of disease and a brief history
o Signs
and symptoms
o Body
system(s) or tissue(s) affected (should include how the body system/tissue is
being broken down) (worth more points see rubric)
o How
that body system(s) or tissue(s) affected normally functions (worth more points
see rubric)
o Transmission
or epidemiology (includes morbidity, mortality and prevalence rates for the
diseases)
o Prevention
or treatment
o Something
interesting about the disease (ex. How common is it, what is the likelihood of
survival, did anyone famous die of it, do you have a personal story about
it?……..)
Slides
should include at least:
o Cover
slide with name of diseases and your name
o At
least 12 additional slides (6 per disease)
o Slide
with at least 3 reliable references with proper bibliographies (can use
textbook as one resource)—MLA format
Do not use Wikipedia (not
a reliable source). You must use at
least one non-internet resource.
Do not plagiarize the
material from any source, including the internet. All material needs to be documented (excluding
pictures). If a person is caught plagiarizing, he/she will receive a zero for
the assignment.
Guidelines for flow charts of how each disease affects the
body:
Should show progression of
diseases on body’s systems/tissues
Includes organs and
tissues involved
Included progression of signs
and symptoms
Can include
pictures
Can be
more than one page/slide long, but no more than three pages/slides for
each disease
Must
be either a word document or powerpoint format (.doc/.docx or .ppt/pptx)
Must
be saved as last name and diseases
flow charts (ex. Spear Huntingon’s, Multiple Sclerosis flow charts)

-Follows progression of disease as outlined in
disease ppt presentation
Overall presentation of material:
-Disease presentation: pictures, well worded,
good information
-Flow charts: flow well, coherent, neat and
presentable, well worded
