Compare and Contrast Original Versions of Songs Against a Cover Version

-Pick one of the four songs listed on. Listen to BOTH versions of the song. Listen for instrumentation in each version, and describe notable changes.. Listen for lyric changes and make note of them. Listen to the overall rhythmic feel and describe differences to the best of your ability. Are there any changes to the formal structure of the song? Maybe one version cuts out verses etc… Sometimes a cover version is better than the original, and vice-versa. Tell me which version you prefer.

First, make an argument on the order of “Many people like something, but I don’t like it,” or vice versa. This could be a TV show, a band, a movie, etc. Use four sentences as in the above example—two sentences for one side, two sentences for the other. Use a word such as “however” to make the turn clear.

Second, make an argument that is more sophisticated dealing with some aspect of technology. Rather than liking or disliking, which is ultimately an opinion, make the argument about which product, for example, may be better than another. Alternatively, assess the relative value of something. Perhaps one app is useful, but you give up certain necessary things by using it exclusively. The point is to use logic and evidence rather than just stating a preference or opinion.
