Instructions:
Apply the forensic psychology diversity information obtained
throughout the course to the development
of a culturally responsive
forensic psychology program. Your program must focus on a unique
forensic
population and demonstrate a targeted approach to address their
distinctive experiences within a
forensic setting. The following
examples of general types of programs may help you choose your program
focus:
Policy or practice reforms (e.g., a plan to reform policies and
practices within the court system to reduce disparities that exist for
LGBTQIA+ forensic populations)
Training programs for forensic or criminal justice professionals (e.g., a training curriculum to improve
Crime prevention programs (e.g., preventing gang involvement among female youth)
Prisoner reentry (e.g., improving reentry experiences for men from lower SES groups)
Forensic mental health programs (e.g., a program to reduce suicide risk among Transgender women who are incarcerated)
Your program proposal should address the following, using scholarly resources to support your ideas:
A discussion of the reason your program is needed:
Describe the unique forensic population you will focus on in your signature assignment.
Discuss the distinctive experiences that your population possesses in forensic settings.
Demonstrate how current practices and programming are limited in
addressing the unique needs of your selected forensic population.
An identification of the program purpose including:
Identification of the population served in your program.
Identification of the unique needs that your program will address for your selected forensic population.
A discussion of the implementation plan including:
Identifying where services will be implemented
Detailing the individuals, communities, and/or organizations that
you need to collaborate with to ensure that you can implement your
program
Discussing how you will select individuals for participation in your
program, including any culturally responsive assessment you may need to
use.
Identifying any additional resources that you need to implement your
programs, such as funding, space to conduct your program, and staffing.
A description of your program organization including:
Describing who will run the program.
Identifying who will be incorporated in your program, such as
individuals, parents, family, communities, professionals, and/or
organizations.
Detailing the components of your program, such as many sessions if
applicable, specific activities, including meetings with policymakers,
therapy sessions, or training sessions, topics covered in your program,
and/or length of the program.
A discussion of any ethical, legal, and moral concerns that may arise:
Identify key ethical guidelines from this week’s readings that you are following in your program.
Make sure to reflect on your personal biases and how these might impact your work in this forensic program.
