Post a draft of your scientific and mathematical/analytical inquiry paper for peer review. You should also post your level 1 and level 2 research questions. Identify any questions or challenges you faced with the assignment, or mention something new you learned about the research question and inquiry paper process. Pose specific questions you would like your peers to address.
In your responses, provide your peers with specific feedback, constructive criticism, suggestions for improvement, and ideas for resources or support. Comment to a minimum of two peers. Remember that your feedback and support are important!
Posting directions: Title your post with your name (e.g., Jenny Smith Scientific/Math Inquiry Paper) and write in your submission or attach a document for peer review.
Hint: This week, I ask you to submit a draft of the first two sections of your final paper, scientific and mathematical/analytical inquiry for peer review. You just need to have ONE of the most important and highlighted parts of each perspective for this discussion post. I do recommend everyone to watch the related videos in the Content and Activities in the left panel.

I don’t know how to handle this question and need guidance.
Responses should be a minimum of 250 words and include direct questions. You may challenge, support or supplement another student’s answer using the terms, concepts and theories from the required readings. Also, do not be afraid to respectfully disagree where you feel appropriate; as this should be part of your analysis process at this academic level.
Respond to Royce:
How does the nation resolve the tension between information technology and legitimate privacy interests? Can the nation truly prevent government from having access to data while enforcing electronic accountability if data is misused? Does making technological choices at the intersection of privacy and civil liberties protection with national security require tradeoffs? How is it possible to strike a balance or weigh the trade-offs between security and freedom? Is it justified to have civil liberties and personal rights interfered with for the sake of national security?
In the United States, there are many tensions between information technology and legitimate privacy interests due to the ability to have our freedoms which may be violated in numerous ways. Some of us pay for what we consider security as in buying an Apple Iphone or a latptop with antivirus protection. The average consumer is scared of malware, trojans, viruses, and to top it all off, the Government conducting surveillance on us. What we don’t understand is the inner workings of the electronics that we purchase and hope to be able to control our privacy. We not only want to control our privacy but control the actions that we do with our electronics.
Unfortunately, this can lead down to dark paths such as the infamous Craigslist killer or the Silk Road that was shut down a few years ago for drug trading and hiring assassins. This can also lead to forums where people slander and discuss ways to attempt religious homicides.
We turn a blind eye and possibly laugh when user stiffsock slanders President Trump on Reddit. Sometimes we even hide in costumes and post our thoughts on YouTube all thinking this is our natural right of feedom of speech. The information technology of today is ever changing though as we become further advanced. AI is being implemented into the next generation of the web. One of the first pieces of AI is natural language processing such as with Facebook. “AI and Algorithms mostly built by the GAFA have dislodged the control center of information from governments to their platform without any fight. States have completely lost control of the information pipelines — except dictatorship in which Web Browsing is highly controlled or simply forbidden” (Bernard, 2019). Dictatorship is one word that is taken likely in the United States and actions to govern our use of technology would be forbidden. But Facebook is taking it to another level. They are adding in filters that remove certain types of posts. This company is one of the first to do this. This is a lesson that the Government could take into consideration as currently most people are free to say and do what they want under hidden user names. The government also has programs to monitor what we access or what we say. “Edward Snowden blew the whistle on PRISM in 2013, the program included at least nine major internet companies, including Facebook, Google, Apple, and Skype. Today, it very likely includes an even broader set of companies” (Toomey, 2018). This is a major violation of our civil rights. If programs like this were only enforced on foreign nationals, this would be a different issue but information gathering cannot distinguish between what data is collected. This is where we need to step in and update our laws so we do not violate our civil rights. We can change what we enforce to be able to keep our freedoms so that we can have a proper balance.

Karen is shopping at Big Mart. She has with her an umbrella which is the same brand Big Mart carries. When a Big Mart employee, Steve, sees her leave with the umbrella without going through the checkout lane, he asks her to come back into the store. Steve says that he thinks Karen is shoplifting the umbrella. Karen tells him that she has had the umbrella for years and shows him marks of wear and tear. Steve apologizes and tells Karen she is free to go. Can Karen successfully sue for false imprisonment or defamation? From what you have learned about the relationship between a principal and an agent, analyze whether Steve or Big Mart could be liable because of Steve’s actions. Guided Response: Review your peer’s responses. For at least two of your classmates, determine if your analysis of the facts is the same.
