Objectives
Social media is a vital marketing channel for businesses of all sizes. Instead of asking, “What/when/how/why should we post on social media channels?” businesses should instead be asking, “How can we leverage social media to grow our business and better communicate with our customers and community?”
The purpose of Projects 1 and 2 is to produce a comprehensive case study of a local business or organization in the Comox Valley. In Project 1, you will choose a local business or organization to study, and you will develop a comprehensive situation analysis for that organization, including a profile overview spreadsheet (similar to a content audit), target audience identification, two target audience personas, and a SWOT analysis.
Project parameters
Students will work independently to research their chosen organization across its online presence, (social media channels and website).
Project deliverables include a social media profile overview, target audience identification report, two target audience personas, and a SWOT analysis, submitted as a report or as a presentation with appendices (examples with be provided).
Weekly in-class activities or online lessons will describe the steps required to complete each element of the project.
This project is worth 20% of your final grade for the course.
