The purpose of this activity is to instill a deepening awareness about the power of and utility of observation. When you conduct an observation, it can lead directly to assessment.
Once you observe something, you now have to communicate what was observed. This requires a high level of focus and clarity coupled with a well-organized process to articulate your assumptions. As an assessor, you need to learn to isolate significant aspects of any given event. This will ensure we are talking the ‘same language.’ Using the tools of measurement will become the mode of communication. As we continue in the course, we will explore this further.
