I am a Hispanic, bilingual (Spanish and English) woman.
I have been officially teaching as a Special Education teacher for approximately five (5) months.
This is a career change for me.
I currently teach Kindergarten and first grade. Teaching young children who speak Spanish can communicate with me on a more personal level (ex: food, music).
For students that have experienced a lot of trauma at such a young age (such as being in foster care), I feel gender does play a significant role, especially when a male figure is not present in their life, and they are surrounded mostly by women in authoritative positions.
