Final Paper: This paper will be part research paper and part reflection paper. You will need to complete a 10 to 15 page paper on a particular Abnormal Psychology Disorder, one that has a specific diagnosis in the DSM-V. So, you could write this paper on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or many other disorders. The first part of your paper is to pick your disorder, and using your text, and at least five other sources (at least three books or journal articles, and two reputable websites) explain the disorder, symptoms, what it looks like in a person’s life, how common it is, and how to treat it.
The second part of your paper is to find a contemporary movie that illustrates the disorder that you are writing about. Compare and contrast (Similarities and Differences) your information about the disorder with how the movie portrays the disorder. Does the movie portray the disorder in an appropriate way? What would the general populace deduce about people with this disorder based on what the movie says? For example, you could write about Autism and use the movie Rain Man, or Mercury Rising. You could also do Schizophrenia and the movie A Beautiful Mind.
