Among the various types of quantitative research designs, quasi-experiments have proven to be the most effective in nursing and other fields.Quasi-experimental research designs are used to establish a cause-and-effect relationship between two variables. The variables in quasi-experiments aren’t chosen randomly, unlike in actual experiments. In nursing, it might be of interest to understand how certain variables relate and what causes certain phenomena (Handley et al., 2018). For instance, during the recent COVID-19 pandemic, it was of public interest to understand the cause-and-effect relationship between the nurses taking care of the patients and the infections caused by giving healthcare.
