T‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍his week, we’re not only reading about narration, but we’re thinking about setting, scene, and atmosphere. Many things go into creating those three things, including time period, location, characters, dialogue, descriptions, and so much more. For this assignment, I have added links to three different versions of Pachelbel’s Canon in D below this assignment on the Week 7 section. After watching all three videos, I’m asking you to create a three-paragraph entry where you discuss how the different aspects of these performances (who is performing them, how they are performed, where they are performed, the video accompanying the performance, etc‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍.) all lend to different settings and atmospheres. While sheet music is obviously a different type of writing than we are dealing with in this class, I am trying this exercise to help us think about how the same written piece–Canon in D–changes dramatically by what a person “telling” the song decides to emphasize (or add). You, too, can make dramatic changes in your story by the way you choose to tell it. And, just for fun, maybe pick a favorite? Hope you all enjoy this!
