CHARTER
To complete this assignment you will need to have read and understood the readings from Chapter 3 of Contemporary Project Management (Kloppenborg, Anantatmula, Wells, 2019) You will now need to develop a charter for your individual project. This is a document that will serve as an informal contract between your team and the sponsor of the project. The sponsor may also be the customer. In our case, the sponsor may be you but assume the Project Manager is you and the sponsor or customer is someone else (not you).
TEXTBOOK: Kloppenborg, T. J., Anantatmula, V. S., & Wells, K. N. (2019). Contemporary project management: Organize, lead, plan, perform. Australia: Cengage
The elements of a charter, at a minimum, are:
Project Title
Scope Overview (what and why)
Background
Schedule
Risks, Assumptions, and Constraints
Resource Estimates
Stakeholders (if appropriate)
Team and Operating Principles
Lessons learned from previous projects
Signatures lines for ratification
You can find all of the explanations of these charter elements in Chapter 3 of your text. Please do not attempt to make your charter without reading and /or consulting with your textbook.
This document must be several pages page double-spaced. A good project manager will need to take some time to communicate these elements for the PM and the stakeholder to ratify.
EXPECTATION FOR CHARTER HOMEWORK
The charter must be:
written as full, grammatically correct sentences
well-thought-out
own work experiences in lessons-learned
from required reading in Chapter 3
proper citations and references must be included
all charters are due on Sunday night, March 13th, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.
Must be a word attachment. No other format is accepted.
No limit on the length but must be more than one page, double-spaced, Typically three pages.
Charts, photos, or tables may be included but not required
If you were to Google, Project Charter Template, or Example, you will find quite a bit of information. I pasted a link to one example below. Use the best Project Charter format that fits your project, just make sure it includes the elements I have listed in the other link below titled, Charter Elements rubric.
