Topic: The president’s ability to shape American politics is largely contingent on public support. To what extent do flagging political support or declining poll numbers hamper the president’s ability to lead Congress and the nation? Are there areas where this fact will be of little consequence? My peers opinion: “I agree that without polls the president would have a hard time figuring out what actions to take. Imagine making a decision for millions of people without their opinions. The pressure and/ or backlash they would get for a decision they thought was right to them and not what the majority of voters wanted. Not to say that’s not what happens now, but at least we can vote and have a choice. Your right the end goal for them is to get re-elected so they would want to have everyone’s best interest and that would be by the polls. Public opinion can be influenced by the candidates campaigning. The more funding and sponsors they have the more the candidates will have media and social media presents which will intern influence the publics opinion. Some of the media can harm other candidates in their ratings because they do not have that much presents or money to get out there and spread their beliefs. Some of the public do not agree with either party and will just not vote no matter what they are campaigning. Those are the ones they would have to influence the most and see where their interest are. ”
