Description:
The sales pitch follows a slightly different format from previous outlines.  Sales pitches follow a clear progression of ideas that are broken down into parts.  However, these types of speeches use a looser structure in terms of how they are constructed as they progress through the five stages of the motivated sequence.

After learning the five steps to the motivated sequence, you will choose a product, service, restaurant, app, etc. to “sell” to the class.  You should be very familiar with whatever you choose to sell.  You then will develop a 2-4 minute sales pitch that follows the motivated sequence.  The motivated sequence is the type of format that is used in commercials, sales interactions, and Shark Tank pitches.  Have fun with what you choose.  However, make sure that you are indeed attempting to “sell” rather than mock the product.
Because of the short nature of this speech, you will not need to turn in an outline.  However, you will want to prepare speaking notes for yourself.  It is important to remember that sales pitches require high engagement with the audience so I highly encourage you to limit your notes so you can make eye contact and demonstrate a high level of confidence in your product or service.
