1. Give a brief overview of the history of the role of the user in tech comm as it’s covered in the early sections ending with (and including) “Decentering Users.” Please include extra emphasis on showing us you understand this final section, since it is most relevant to our course. The history preceding it helps you better understand this section.
2. In the section titled Assemblages, Objects, Agentic Swarms, you can read with your eyes blurred just a bit– it’s a very hard section referencing a lot of other theories and concepts. Try to get a sense of what an assemblage is by mainly using the paragraphs about the US power outage of 2003 and the light switch. Using these paragraphs (and other skimmed paragraphs in this section) give a brief overview of what an assemblage is in your own words. How is an assemblage posthuman?
3. What, loosely, is a Makerspace? And what does “deterritorializing” mean?
4.  Identify 2-3 takeaways from the student examples/processes that the authors describe. How are they demonstrating/embodying/helping us understand assemblages? What is the role of flux and how does it manifest in the Makerspace-related assemblages?
