Learning Goal: I’m working on a literature discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.part 1 Module Three: Prompt Two (Macro-reading: Humans and Animals)This is a class-wide Discussion Board Post activity. It consists of 3 steps, so please take note of everything. Complete this activity after you have read all of the assigned tales from Days Four and Five of the Decameron.Step One: Select two words that describe human body parts or animals that appear in two different tales that you’ve read for this module. (They can both be from the same Day.) Make sure that these are suggestive words, like “falcon,” “nightingale,” “poison,” “heart,” “head,” etc. Now take note of where these words appear, and in which tale, writing the page number next to each word. If the word appears in more than one tale, take note of that. Pay special attention to whether or not this body part or animal also appears in the frame narrative.Step Two: Now respond to the following questions in complete sentences:What is the literal significance of this object? If it does not have a literal significance, describe its figurative significance (i.e., to what does it allude)?
What is its function in the story? Would the story be the same without this body part or animal?
Have you seen this human body part or animal in another tale from the Decameron? If so, how is its significance difference in that tale?
What does the appearance of this body part or animal make you conclude about the significance of the human or animal body in the Decameron?
Step Three: Now synthesize your responses to Steps One and Two into two paragraphs. Be sure to include direct textual citations. Your final post should be between 100 and 150 words total. Read the Discussion Board grading rubric to see how your initial post will be evaluated. .Part 2Love is a recurring theme in the Decameron. Yet, it is sometimes difficult for modern readers to understand Boccaccio’s representation of this idea in his tales. Locate two passages in Days Four and Five of the Decameron where this term appears and, after a close, contextualized reading of the text, describe Boccaccio’s concept of Love as it relates to his characters/stories using specific references to the text. Then consider how your conception of love contrasts with what you have just analyzed.
