For your original contribution, you are invited to respond to the Federalist argument set forth by James Madison in Federalists #10 and #51, and should incorporate discussion from the other Federalist essays assigned, as appropriate. Your response should take the form of a persuasive statement against the Federalist ideas for republican government and the separation of powers into three discrete branches. In other words, your discussion post should accomplish the following task:
Convince the people of New York that the ratification of the new Federal Constitution would NOT be in the best interest of the nation; that doing so would rob the people of their hard fought liberty and natural rights.
Your post should specifically critique the argument for republican government found in Federalist #10 and should specifically critique the argument for preventing tyranny through separation of the government into three branches found in Federalist #51. Use excerpts from these two primary sources to frame your argument.
You may wish (but are not required) to read selections from the Letters of Brutus (Links to an external site.) (Antifederalist tracts published anonymously, in dialogue with the Federalist Papers) to develop your counterargument:
Brutus I (Links to an external site.): Considers themes introduced in Federalist 10 and 39: Extent and nature of the union of states, states’ rights, taxation, Bill of Rights
Brutus IV (Links to an external site.): Considers themes introduced in Federalist 54: Nature of House of Representatives
Brutus XII – Part 1 (Links to an external site.) and Part 2 (Links to an external site.):  Considers themes introduced in Federalist 78: The judiciary
