Drama Essay Assignment
Fields’ Comp. II
For your drama essay, analyze the play The Brute for a theme
The theme is very closely related to symbolism. The theme is the overall message that the writer is trying to convey. What is it that the author wants the audience to learn from this work? What does he or she want the reader to remember? One piece of literature can carry many different themes, so there isn’t a single “right” thing to talk about. Find what the play says to you and tell me about it.
Symbolism represents the symbols in a work and their significance to the overall meaning that the writer is trying to convey. Using a work’s symbols is an excellent way to explore its theme.
As with your previous paper, you will use the TIQA pattern, incorporating quotes from the play and from at least one outside source to make your point. The essay should include 2 – 3 pages of text plus a Works Cited page.
