You will need to provide a detailed rationale for why a particular diagnosis was chosen based upon the DSM-5 symptom sets and other information. There are no right or wrong answers regarding which diagnoses you choose or not choose, but the paper will be graded based on how well the arguments for and against a particular diagnosis is formulated and justified. Paper should be approximately 3-5 pages long. APA style is not required for this paper, but I expect your writing to be scholarly and formal. I also expect you to cite sources appropriately (e.g., DSM-5). Grading Criteria: 50 Total Points-20 points = Points for 1st possible diagnosis & rationale-20 points = Points of 2nd possible diagnosis & rationale-10 points = Discussion of multicultural elements needing to be considered in making the diagnosis VignetteThomas May is a 21-year old, Bi-Racial (Korean-American & Euro-American), Trans-Male who sought services for psychotherapy at Washington state Counseling & Psychological Services as he was experiencing symptoms of worry and negative mood. During his first appointment with Dr. Hope, psychologist, he explained that 2 weeks prior, he was walking on campus when a group of males circled around him and begun calling him awful names and threatening to beat him up. He explained that a school police officer came by and the men ran away. Since this incident, Mr. May reported that he is struggling with thoughts and memories of the event. He also reported that he wakes up frequently at night with nightmares of being attacked. He also reported struggles with attention. He explained that while sitting in class, he feels “not there” as if he isn’t connected to reality. He shared that he has been feeling sad and anxious about what occurred and is considering withdrawing from Washington state for the remainder of the semester because he doesn’t feel safe, however, he worries about his family’s reaction to him withdrawing. He also reported struggling to leave his house most days. He shared that when he went to church on Sunday, everyone stood up to sing a Hymn and he immediately started to panic and experience difficulties breathing. Hestated that he walked outside and felt tremendously better after about 20 minutes. Currently, Mr. May doesn’t want to be around any groups of people. What would you diagnose Mr. May with?
