The point of a scholarly journal article review is not to summarize the content of the aticle, but to evaluate the merit of the article and to critically analyze the author’s purpose, thesis, contentions, and methods of analysis. Hence, the bulk of a artilce review essay will be an evaluation of how convincing was the author’s presentation of his/her thesis, and a commentary on the aticle’s contribution to one’s understanding of an important issue in abnormal psychology.
