This may seem like a tall order, but since Essay 2 is an extension of Essay 1 (and assuming you’ve properly followed the requirements for Essay 1), you should be adding anywhere from 3-4 pages to Essay 1. You are to compare the poem you evaluated in Essay 1 with a new poem. You will then evaluate your subject matter using at least 3-4 criteria (which may or may not be the same from Essay 1) to determine how your subjects are alike and how they are different on a thematic level and how the authors accomplish this. Then, you will develop a thesis based on your evaluations. The poem “The star” by Jane Taylor. You will also need 2-4 outside sources to develop your argument. These sources need to be peer-reviewed, prestigious publications. These sources can be literary criticism, author interviews, or reflections and reviews of an author’s work. There should be a judgment between the two pieces. Just because you feel one poem is better than the other that does not mean that the “lesser” poem still does not have merit. Make sure to look at the pros/cons of each piece critically and make sure to incorporate the key terms you’ve been learning over the past few weeks; these will help you define your criteria and judgment. I will sent my first essay and the example this essay.
