Learning Goal: I’m working on a communications writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.Informative speech about the Cause and Effects of Global Warming. I. Outline should be 2-4 pages in length. There is no penalty for less or more, but most good outlines for our 5-9 minute speech fall within 2-4 pages. Shorter than 2, you’re probably missing something; longer than 4, you are probably trying to cover too much for your speech.II. Main points and sub points should be in complete sentences.III. Each main point and sub point should only be one sentence.IV. Main points, nor sub points should be questions.V. Symbolization and indentation should be accurate. A) “I”, “II”, “III”, “IV”, “V” . indicates main points. B) Capital A, B, C etc indicate sub points. C) 1,2,3,4 etc. represent sub-sub points. D) Lower case a, b, c represent sub-sub-sub points etc.VI. Label the introduction, Body, and Conclusion A) Use outline format for each segment. B) Roman numbers start with the introduction, start over again for the body and again for the conclusion. See outline exampleYou must have a minimum of 3 sources for your speech. You must also verbally cite these sources within your speech.I. 2 of the 3 sources must be from published or academic sources! A. You can use magazines, books, newspapers, journals, .gov as academic sources. B. Sources must be credible. C. Academic sources can be published and reviewed and found on the internet. If American Medical Association (AMA) publishes information and places it on the internet, they will be considered a published source.II. 3rd source must be credible. Most of the time this 3rd source happens to be from the internet. A. Make sure you know the author, sponsor, date of the source. B. Wikipedia should not be used as a source as of this date. C. Encyclopedias & dictionaries can be used, but not as 1 of the 3 required sources.III. Label sources by categories. Give it a heading like Books, Journals etc. or WebIV. You can add or subtract sources after you turn this assignment in.V. Preference is to copy and paste or type your sources directly to this forum.You are to use MLA style.Each published source is worth 10 points each; you need 2 of them (20 points). The 3rd source (internet, interview, etc) is worth 10 points (Total of 30 points). If you have 3 sources, but only 1 “published” source, you will lose points. You can have as many sources as you need.
