Upon completing this assignment students will be able to:
・Give a fair and objective overview of a film to the targeted audience.
・Analyze the plot, main idea, characters, acting, setting, sound effects, and other aspects of the drama/film, entertaining the reader without using expressions that are superficial, too general, or too informal.
・Write a well-organized review with college level diction.
Procedure
・Watch the movie Fences posted in the Unit 3 file. The film was directed by Denzel Washington (2016), and it is based on the play with the same title by August Wilson (Textbook p. 686~).
・Watch it through, then watch it a few more times. While watching the movie the second time or the third time, make sure to take notes. Write a review following the instructions based on unit materials.
Instructions for this Assignment
Tone and Diction
・Decide on the appropriate tone and diction assuming that your audience are college students and teachers who have not watched the film yet. Make your review interesting but avoid using expressions that are too informal.
Introduction
・The introduction of your review should include the title of the film, the year of production, the director’s name, the main characters, the actors who play the roles, and a brief summary of the story (In your own words).
・You can choose to put the actors’ names in body paragraphs if it works efficiently.
・It is important to locate a sentence that shows the main focus of your review toward the end of the introduction.

Format
・Use the same format (your name, the instructor’s name, the course title, date).
・Add the title of your review and locate it at the center (as you always do).
・Double-space throughout the paper.
・Indent the beginning of each paragraph.
・In-text citation and works cited are not necessary.
・If you quote lines from the movie, put them in parentheses and add the timestamp: (1:20:04).
・The title (Fences) should be italicized without quotation marks.
