A panel of experts has been brought together to help explain women’s crime and to decide what should be done to reduce crime in Canada. You are the feminist criminologist at the table. For your contribution, you have been asked, as a feminist criminologist, to assess the structural and gendered features of Canadian society in terms of impacts on a) criminalization and b) punishment, and c) to propose avenues for change.
To assist you in crafting your response, think through: How do aspects of society shape women’s criminal offending and criminalization, as well as social responses to crime? In other words, how do social structures, systems, laws, institutions, and social norms impact who are criminalized women and how punishment occurs? What needs to change and what sort of “roadmap” (strategies, guiding principles, priorities) should we use for this change?
Needs to be written in full sentences, as an essay (no point form).
Include an introductory paragraph that summarizes what the essay will argue (a concluding paragraph is not necessary but can be included if you wish).
