This semester you will be collecting precipitation and temperature data for a weather project and you will be using a rain gauge and thermometer to collect your data. You will begin this project on February 7, but in the meantime, you will need to pick up your weather equipment for this project from the Geography Department main office in McGilvrey Hall on the 4th floor in room 413.
Part I will be released to you on January 31 at 5pm and will include instructions for the weather data collection. You will begin collecting temperature and precipitation data at your specific location and for another station via online for a total of eight weeks beginning on February 7. The weeks that you are to collect weather data are listed in the course schedule, in each weekly module folder, and also in the weather project assignment. Also, helpful instructions for using Microsoft Excel will be included in the instructions.
The purpose of the Weather Analysis Project is to familiarize you with maintaining a weather station, collecting weather data, and analyzing station data. The attached instructions describe Part I of your Weather Project and provide information on how to set up your weather equipment, collect your data, and use Microsoft Excel.
