1. Create 3 questions before reading:
Based on the topics of assigned chapters, create 3 questions, including at least 1 critical thinking question on your own (three questions in all).
As you read them, try to find the answers to your questions. What do you want to learn from the chapters?
2. Place the chapter summary and your responses: Summarize the assigned chapters by responding to the topics presented below. Also, respond to the given videos provided.
Guiding Questions:
What are the literacy demands on middle- and high-school students?
What are literacy instruction needs in content areas? Please respond to the following topics as well.
How can you apply reading instruction, activities, strategies, and resources across content area subjects?
What’s your position to team work among members, high stakes assessment, common core state standards initiative, RTI and differentiated instruction, and Media literacy?
Make your strong comments on additional information from the chapters as well.

As you respond BOTH to the guiding questions and the videos provided, please include: 1) What the textbook/video says, 2) Your personal thoughts or reactions to the topics, and 3) Implications for teaching (How can you use the information presented here to help you?)
3. Present the answers to your own questions:
Did you find the answers that you created before reading? Write down the answers to each question and indicate if they were obtained from the chapters or from outside research on your own.
If you could not find answers from anywhere, then ask your peers as you respond to other posts.
4. Keep the paper length requirement:
Please elaborate your descriptions to meet a minimum length requirement of 5 full pages, double-spaced (12-font).
The paper should be written as complete sentences and grammatically correct with specific (not general) ideas and thoughts related to the guiding questions. It must include specific information from the course textbook and assigned sources.
5. Respond to 3 other posts:
After posting your paper, review 3 posts that your peers submitted and respond to them with your thoughtful comments.
Please read 3 questions that they created and see if you may offer any answers to them as you respond.
Please indicate your name and your major on the Subject line (e.g, Bill Smith, Music). So, your peers know which ones to click to review. Your response should be substantial and thoughtful. For example, “I agree” or “I disagree” will not do. You must state why you agree or disagree.
I expect a paragraph writing with more than 7 sentences, using compound or/and complex sentences rather than using simple sentences for the full credits.
To wrap-up:
1. Create 3 questions before reading, including 1 critical thinking question (three questions in all). Please place your 3 questions on top of your paper.
2. Make a nice summary of assigned chapters and given videos by responding to the topics provided. Please make sure if you included 3 requirements: 1) A summary of the chapters and videos, 2) Your personal thoughts or reaction, and 3) Implications for teaching.
3. Write down the answers to your own questions and provide the sources (where you obtained each answer). Ask your peers your questions when responding to other posts.
4. A minimum length requirement of the original post: 5 full pages total, double-spaced (12-font). This is a minimum requirement and I expect more than the minimum.
5. Respond to 3 other posts and offer productive comments, using 7 sentences (per reply) in a paragraph format. Try to offer answers to their questions, if you can. Do not just say, “I like your idea,” but respond why you like that idea, using compound/complex sentences.
